I've wrote these lines for my first site, in 2003, but in rereading it recently, I agree that I do not know, even today after many years, how best to start this section..
It was October 1993 and had just turned 18, always loved traveling and discovering places "far away" but, until then, I had visited and enjoyed, mostly with my parents, the most beautiful places in Italy and therefore I began to desire different countries and destinations. That day I set myself a goal: within 25 years visit those who, in my opinion, were the most beautiful place in the world, the most beautiful place in Europe and the most beautiful place in Italy.
A goal maybe a bit ambitious but without a hint of ambition and courage is difficult to reach something, and not only when traveling. The dream was a "Fly and Drive" in California but it was not easy to organize a trip, even economically speaking. The idea was born in March of 1999, listening to friends talk about some very sad and boring plans for the new year eve of 2000.
I realized that I had and I could do something different .. new year eve of 2000 was a good opportunity to fly to California! I entered a couple of travel agencies and i came out with the airline reservation: Milan - Los Angeles, December 27, 1999 - January 10, 2000, a good hotel for the first night and a car rented for 14 days, everything else I decided on site, full of adventure and total freedom.
Passed the hardest trips the goal was very near. A few months later, in the summer of 2000, I organized another Fly and Drive, this time in Ireland (the most beutiful place i've been in Europe) and, after some stays on Lake Garda (in my opinion the beutiful place in Italy) I reached the target some months before the 25 years, promising myself that was not a point of arrival but a point of departure for new and wonderful experiences.
